Service History:

Charles Frankham served in the army from 1915.  Like his brother, Frederick, he was a Gunner (Part of the Machine Gun Corp), service number 191936 and like his brother he was killed in action.  The Commonwealth War Graves Commission recorded that Charles died on the 30th October 1918 and that he was buried in Ambala Cantonment Cemetery, in India, Plot 35 Row E, Grave number 19.

Personal History:

Charles Frankham was born in Portsmouth in 1889 to Henry and Eliza Frankham.  The family home in 1911 was in Alver Road, Fratton, Portsmouth and Charles age 23 was employed as a bar tender.  As recorded above his life ended when he was killed in action, in 1918, while serving in the army in India.
