Sir William Pink (1829-1906) served five terms as Mayor of Portsmouth. He was a highly successful grocer, with several shops supplying the local community. In 1876 he organised a ball to mark the return of the Prince of Wales from a tour of India. Sir William received his knighthood in 1891 followed by the Freedom of the City in 1905.
